Community engagement

Our approach

Capricornia is committed to partnership and engagement with Traditional Owners, landowners, community groups, and local business and industries.

We want to talk about what matters to you, so we can deliver real, lasting benefits for regional Queensland.

Consultation

Since 2019, we’ve engaged a wide range of stakeholders through town hall sessions, drop-in sessions, briefings, e-news and one-on-one engagements. Feedback from these engagements has directly informed our project design, environmental studies, and other activities.

We will continue to keep stakeholders informed throughout every stage of the project, including the final stages of development, construction, and operation.

To stay up-to-date and find out how to get involved, we encourage you to subscribe to our newsletter, or reach out directly at info@capricorniapumpedhydro.com.au or call us on 1800 979 686.

Supplier opportunities

We’re working with local and global suppliers as we plan the Capricornia Pumped Hydro project. Register your interest in supplying to the project and view public tender opportunities through our Felix Portal.

We encourage interested suppliers to register for notifications through Felix to stay updated on future public tender releases that match your area of interest.

We are committed to procuring goods and services locally in the region where possible. This will include using:

  • Local catering and cleaning services

  • First Nations businesses and individuals

  • Local manufacturing and suppliers

Community Benefit Fund

We have established a pre-construction Community Benefit Fund that supports initiatives, projects and events that benefit the local community.

It prioritises efforts to enhance local sustainability and reduce emissions, or to promote the area as a tourist destination. This includes raising awareness and respect for the art, culture, and history of the Traditional Owners.

All local community groups are invited to apply for the fund by completing the application form which can be found at the bottom of this page. Please read the Terms of Reference before completing the application form.

We will provide funding on an annual basis in the project’s pre-construction phase and will establish a separate Community Benefit Fund for the construction and operational phases.
