Preliminary draft EIS submitted for adequacy review

We have submitted the Capricornia Pumped Hydro Project preliminary draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to the Office of the Coordinator-General (OCG) for adequacy review, marking a key milestone in the project’s assessment process.

This review takes place before the draft EIS is released to the public. During this stage, the Coordinator-General checks that the preliminary draft EIS adequately addresses the requirements of the Terms of Reference (TOR), and is robust, transparent and ready for public consultation.

The length of the adequacy review process will depend on the time it takes for the OCG to provide feedback, and the time needed for Capricornia to make any necessary updates to the documents.

More information about the Coordinator-General’s EIS process is available here.

What happens next?

Once the Coordinator-General is satisfied that the preliminary draft EIS is complete and meets all requirements, it will be released for public notification, and submissions will be invited. The timing and length of public notification period is determined by the Coordinator-General.

Preparing for public display

Once we receive feedback from the Coordinator-General on the preliminary draft EIS and have a clearer understanding of the timeline for public notification, we plan to hold a series of town-hall style information sessions in the region. These sessions will help the community prepare for the public notification period and understand how to access and provide feedback on the draft EIS.
