Making Queensland’s energy system more stable, reliable, and affordable

About us

Capricornia Pumped Hydro is a proposed energy storage project near Mackay in Central Queensland.

Capricornia will deliver enough power to meet about 4% of Queensland's total energy demand. The project will generate 750MW, with a storage capacity of 12GWh, or around 16 hours – using the power of water to store and generate clean electricity when it is most needed.

Our investment and local partnerships will deliver lasting community benefit and regional economic growth and opportunity.

Supporting and growing local communities

We want the community to play a pivotal role in the formation of the final project and to ensure that the community is kept up to date on the project as its progresses from concept through to approvals, construction and operation.
